  • Exemption of the Annual Membership Dues for Those Affected by the Heavy Rain in Northern Kyushu, Typhoon No.15 and No.19(2019/10/30)
    We express our deepest sorrow for those who suffered from the heavy rain in northern Kyushu, typhoon No.15 and No.19. The Board of the Linguistic Society of Japan has determined that the annual membership dues for 2019 are exempted from those members who have suffered from these disasters. For details, see here.

  • Obituary(2019/07/17)
    The LSJ reports with regret the death of Dr. Hiruyuki Umeda, the 13th president of the LSJ (1994-1996). Dr. Umeda, passing away early in the morning of July 1, 2019, was a notable figure in the field of Korean linguistics and education. He will be remembered for his tremendous contribution to the development of the field, in particular with regard to the research and education of the Korean language, and for his devotion to the promotion of academic interactions between Japan and Korea.
